About Me

I began my writing journey as an ethnographer working in Russia and Azerbaijan. After obtaining my PhD in cultural anthropology and engaging in twenty years of teaching and scholarship, I began writing fiction to explore new ways of communicating my research findings. In 2019, I decided to pursue creative writing seriously and enrolled in a low-residency MFA. I enjoy crafting short stories and essays that weave together fact and fiction, past and present.
